a mother's soundscape journey

Imagine a mother returning from a demanding workday, eager to reunite with her children at the sports club. As they embrace, the outside world fades, replaced by moments of joy and connection. This study focuses on crafting a soundscape and spatial design that nurtures family bonds, particularly between mothers and children, at Al Gezira Sporting Club in 6th of October City, Cairo.   Designed for upper-middle and high-income groups, the study blends sound, lighting, and space to foster well-being. Using Decibel X, sound levels are measured across park zones, while interviews with mothers reveal how these auditory environments shape their experiences.   The soundscape design proposal balances dynamic sports areas with tranquil zones, encouraging both interaction and relaxation. Workshops for mothers and children foster creativity and emotional bonding through activities like art-making and mindfulness exercises.   To extend these benefits, the study introduces an interactive mobile app. It includes conversation starters tailored to various age groups, fostering meaningful dialogue, and a family progress tracker to monitor shared milestones. Together with workshops, the app helps families integrate bonding moments into daily life, ensuring the connections formed at the park continue at home.   Although rooted in Egypt, this project’s theme of motherhood transcends borders. By blending sound, space, workshops, and technology, this design offers a blueprint for strengthening family bonds worldwide. It invites families to embark on a transformative journey of connection, love, and shared memories.
