A New Dataset on United Nations Peacekeeping Activities and Public Services (UNPAPS)

The United Nations Peacekeeping Activities and Public Services (UNPAPS) dataset provides systematic, daily-level data on peacekeeping activities across twelve UN missions between 2010 and 2022. The dataset is constructed from over 78,000 tweets posted by official mission accounts and uses AI-assisted coding to extract structured information from unstructured text. It records activity types (e.g., security, humanitarian assistance, infrastructure), locations, dates, and troop-contributing countries when available. By capturing both the type and frequency of peacekeeping activities, UNPAPS enables disaggregated analysis of operational behavior and local engagement across missions. The dataset offers a novel resource for studying the implementation and effects of UN peacekeeping at the micro level.
