This dataset is a cleaned and wrangled version of individual-level survey data originally collected by Afrobarometer. The dataset was prepared for the analysis of urban–rural differences in corruption perceptions across African countries.
The original Afrobarometer survey data were processed, harmonized, and recoded to create the analytical dataset used in the study. The data include measures of corruption perceptions as well as demographic and socioeconomic variables, including area of residence (urban/rural), education, gender, age, and living conditions. The dataset is structured for multilevel analysis, with respondents nested within countries.
No personally identifiable information is included.
The original data source is Afrobarometer, and users should cite Afrobarometer in addition to this derived dataset when using these data.
