This article focuses on one of the most complex and protracted border conflicts that has got international attention - the dispute between Sudan and South Sudan over the Abyei border region. The northern and southern tribes are the participants in the conflict over resources and the territory in the region. The Abyei issue has recently been internationalized and boundary arbitration has been referred to the International Court of Justice in the Hague.
