Abstract
Rwanda, facing challenges such as land degradation, climate change, and food insecurity, has embraced agroecology as a sustainable approach to agriculture. This paper explores how agroecological practices, including intercropping, agroforestry, and integrated pest management, are being implemented to enhance agricultural productivity while preserving natural resources. By promoting biodiversity and soil health, these practices not only increase crop yields but also build resilience against environmental shocks. The study highlights successful initiatives such as community-based agroecological projects and government policies supporting smallholder farmers. It also examines the socio-economic benefits of agroecology, including improved livelihoods and reduced poverty, demonstrating its potential to transform Rwanda's agricultural sector and ensure long-term food security.
