Flooding is a recurring natural disaster in Nigeria, with devastating consequences on human lives, infrastructure, and the economy. This article explores an overview of flood occurrence and its impacts in Nigeria. Existing flood management approaches and their limitations were discussed. The paper also explored AI-powered flood management technologies such as Google’s Flood Hub and their application in flood prediction, early warning systems and anticipatory relief efforts.  The study reviewed the case of AI-driven flood management pilot program in Kogi State. The benefits of AI-driven flood management such as advanced early warning, enhanced predictive accuracy, real time monitoring and response, reduction of economic and human loss etc. were highlighted. Challenges which include unreliable internet connectivity, data limitation, lack of awareness on the part of the citizens etc. were also examined. Future directions of AI in flood management like integration with digital twins, enhancement of citizen engagements and cross border collaborations among others were also highlighted. It was established that recent advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI) offer a promising solution to enhance flood prediction, preparedness, and response in Nigeria. Recommendations put forward among others include; adoption of an integrated approach to urban infrastructural development, establishments of centre for Flood Risk Research and Management, creation of awareness of AI driven flood managements among citizens, and the provision of internet facility in every part of the country for easy use of AI in flood Managements.
