In this environment, and throughout the world, efforts to improve the standard of living for human through the control of nature and the development of new products have resulted in the pollution of the environment. Although, the problems of water supply and liquid-solid waste disposal are of major importance to urban population, their solution alone does not ensure a completely satisfactory environment. The pollution of the atmosphere increases in almost direct ratio to the population density. This arises from automobile exhausts, industrial process, forest fires, radiological decomposition, volcanic eruption, etc. Nigeria has not commenced any serious work in estimating the effects of air pollution on health, agriculture, forestry and ornamental horticulture. This paper therefore focuses on the air pollution and its hazardous effects in nigeria environment.
