Artificial Intelligence (AI) Can Accelerate African Development

The African region should not be left behind in the race to accelerate artificial intelligence innovations globally. African countries should leverage AI innovations to drive positive growth and development. This study explores how artificial intelligence opens new opportunities for the climate, agriculture, financial sector, health, energy, education, infrastructure and industrialization, water supply and transportation sectors in African countries. It was argued that AI can support ongoing efforts to develop several sectors of African economies. Private innovators and policymakers in African countries should be open to experiment and embrace AI technologies to accelerate all-round development.
