The objectives of this paper are to examine the role of artificial intelligence and ICT in enhancing economic competitiveness in Nigeria; the extent to which digital transformation influences nation branding and market reputation; and the challenges limiting effective technological adoption in the Nigerian context. The study is anchored on Diffusion of Innovation Theory and Technological Determinism, which explain patterns of technology adoption and their socio-economic implications. The study adopts a qualitative research design using secondary data from policy documents, institutional reports, and relevant scholarly literature. The findings from the literature review indicate that while ICT has improved connectivity and global participation, the slow adoption or limited AI adoption constrains Nigeria’s capacity to fully compete in global digital economy. The study concludes that strategic integration of AI and ICT is essential for strengthening Nigeria’s economic competitiveness and global image. It recommends increased investment in digital infrastructure, development of AI-related skills, strengthening of regulatory frameworks and the strategic use of digital platforms to enhance nation branding.
