ABSTRACT The rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has begun to reshape multiple sectors globally, including education. This paper examines the integration of AI in secondary education, with a particular focus on developing contexts such as Nigeria. It explores how AI tools enhance teaching practices, personalize learning experiences, and transform assessment systems. The study adopts a conceptual and analytical approach, drawing from recent literature to evaluate the benefits, challenges, and ethical considerations associated with AI adoption in schools. Key findings indicate that AI has the potential to improve student engagement, support differentiated instruction, and streamline administrative tasks. However, issues such as digital inequality, lack of teacher preparedness, infrastructure deficits, and ethical concerns remain significant barriers. The paper concludes by recommending policy reforms, teacher training programs, and strategic investments in digital infrastructure to maximize the benefits of AI in education.
