Artificial Intelligence Tools in Human Resource Management and Lecturers' Retention in Private Universities in Ekiti State

This study investigated “Utilisation of Artificial Intelligence tools in Human Resources Management and Lecturers’ Retention in Private Universities in Ekiti State”. Three research questions and three hypotheses guided the study. The study adopted the correlation survey research design. The population for the study was 122 senior administrators (Establishment, Human Resource Managers, Bursars, Directors, Deans, and Head of Department) in the 3 private universities in Ekiti State. The entire population was used thus adopting census without sampling. The instruments for data collection were two self-constructed questionnaires titled “Utilisation of Artificial Intelligence Tools in Human Resource Management Questionnaire” and “Lecturers’ Retention Questionnaire”. The validity of the research instruments were determined using face and content validity by two experts from the Department of Educational Management, Rivers State University, Port Harcourt. The reliability of the instrument was established using Cronbach Alpha method. The reliability indexes obtained were 0.72, 0.78, 0.88 and 0.85; for the various clusters of the instruments.122 copies of the instrument were administered, however 98 copies were retrieved and used for analysis. The data gathered from the respondents were analyzed using Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient. Furthermore, t-transformation was used to test the null hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The study found that utilization of artificial intelligence tools in human resource management helps to aid lecturers’ retention in private Universities in Ekiti State. The study recommended among others that universities should sponsor top administrators to access artificial intelligent workshops in order to equip them with the ethics of utilizing artificial intelligence and still preserve academic integrity.
