Assessing Strategies for Combating Unfalsifiable Misinformation: Evidence from Kenya

Contemporary fact-checking efforts remain ill-suited to address many types of misinformation. Using the 2022 Kenyan General Election as a case study, we plan to conduct an online survey experiment involving 2,000 Kenyan citizens. The survey will test extant strategies for addressing misinformation to determine how various types of social media responses to misleading information impact assessments of veracity, propensity to share, and the trustworthiness of the poster.
