Abstract: Objective: The study aim at knowing and analyzing traffic congestion in some areas in Ibadan metropolis with
Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) and counting technique.
Methods: View the uses of UAVs for monitoring the traffic on the city road of Ibadan. The procedures involved acquisition of
imagery with the use of DJI Phantom 4 Pro and its software, georeferenced the Images into Arc Map 10.3 and building of
Database. Apart from Primary Data acquired by Drone, Field count technique of vehicles was adopted, in which the vehilcles
were classified into different categories. Also some Ground controls was established by GPS/GNSS to coordinate the
photographic image. Other Secondary Data are downloaded Imagery for digitization of features and other existing Referential
coordinates for point’s identification
Results: Inference was made from the results on Spatial Temporal Distribution of Drone compared with Counting technique
shows that there is a strong Correlation Coefficient (r = 0.823404) between the two techniques, and the Coefficient tends towards
positive (+ve 1) and Hypothesis Ha is not Rejected but Admissible, Regression from Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) indicating Pvalue (0.000997) that is significant (≠ 0) and < 0.01. (CFI TEAM, 2022). (Ho= 0 Rejected; Ha ≤ ≥ 0 Accepted.).
Conclusion: Therefore, UAV can also be used to monitor traffic situation as an alternative to manual counting, Mouna et al.
(2018) also suggested that UAVs are good for collecting and sending real-time vehicle information
