The objective for the Surveillance Partnership to Improve Data for Action on Antimicrobial Resistance (SPIDAAR): Low-interventional, multi-Centre study of the burden of nosocomial infections among hospitalised patients in sub-Saharan Africa was to estimate the rates of resistance in Healthcare Associated Infections (HAIs) amongst hospitalised patients. Additional objectives included describing treatment outcomes amongst hospitalised patients with NI, at the end of therapy and at hospital discharge, assessing mortality rates (all-cause and infection-related) of hospitalised patients with NI, at the end of therapy and at hospital discharge, and assessing hospital length of stay amongst hospitalised patients with NI.
