Blockchain Technology and Operational Performance of Logistics Firms in Port Harcourt

The adoption of blockchain technology and the operational performance of logistics companies in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, are examined in this study. Data were collected from logistics companies using a descriptive survey approach, and descriptive and inferential statistics, such as means, correlation, and regression techniques, were used for analysis. The findings offer quantifiable proof of how blockchain adoption affects important performance metrics like cost effectiveness, customer satisfaction, inventory accuracy, operational efficiency, delivery dependability, and service quality. The descriptive analysis's results indicate that while inventory accuracy is largely constant with a mean range of 83.93 to 86.52, average operational efficiency varies from 66.78 to 74.30 across adoption levels. Delivery timeliness shows better performance at moderate adoption levels before dropping at higher stages, with higher mean values peaking at 92.29. With mean values falling from 78.68 at low adoption to 72.37 at high adoption levels, customer satisfaction exhibits a declining trend. With coefficients ranging from -0.25 to 0.01, correlation data also show modest connections between public blockchain adoption and performance measures, indicating limited linear influence in certain situations. On the other hand, private blockchain adoption shows more robust positive correlations, with mean service quality of 81.44, cost effectiveness of 77.10, and delivery reliability of 84.70%. Private blockchain correlation values show somewhat good associations with operational outcomes, ranging from 0.371 to 0.563. According to consortium blockchain analysis, adoption maturity is moderate, with mean prospect scores around 4.0 and challenge ratings around 4.1, indicating readiness levels between 40% and 58%. However, implementation readiness and provider capability temper the variable but usually favorable benefits of blockchain adoption on logistical performance. The study comes to the conclusion that successful blockchain integration can improve logistical efficiency, but results rely on organized adoption plans and organizational readiness.
