Bunkula_00 Placing the Dead and Nurturing the Living: Documentation of house- construction and terrace farming in Zargulla, an endangered Omotic language

This is the first of a series of related recordings with Mr Bunkula Galibo about a terrace farm he is expanding. Researcher Azeb Amha and three research assistants Birtukan Bunkula (the daughter of Mr Bunkula Galibo), Mr Abboye Alada and Mr Asmelash Michael arrive at the farm on an appointed time. There were a number of onlookers, Ato Bunkula’s neighbours and children. As the research team are close to Mr Bunkula’s farm, people remark on various things, exchanging jokes and questions. Ato Bunkula himself tells how heavy his work is. The video recording was made by Azeb Amha and focuses on the piles of stones Ato Bunkula compiled to build the terrace.
