Community Base Newborn Care Evaluation, Ethiopia 2013-2017 - Health Centre Survey Data

The IDEAS Community Base Newborn Care (CBNC) evaluation surveys were conducted in Ethiopia in the last quarter of 2013, 2015 and 2017. Across four regions; Amhara, Oromiya, SNNP and Tigray, 206 Primary Healthcare Units (PHCU) were randomly selected from 12 zones and surveyed at all three time points. These datasets contain anonymised data collected via health facility surveys of a health centre and satellite health post in each Primary Healthcare Units (PHCU). This contains data collected from the Health Centre. Research instruments were developed specifically to evaluated the CBNC programme and where possible used previously validated questions. Questionnaires were first developed in English and then translated into Amharic, Oromifa and Tigrigna and pre-tested prior to data collection. Field surveys were conducted by JaRco Consulting. Teams consisting of four enumerators and one experienced supervisor were trained in the data collection tool by JaRco and overseen by IDEAS prior to data collections. At baseline, data collection was performed using paper questionnaires which were then double entered into CSPro software and any discrepancies reconciled at the JaRco office. During the midline and endline surveys, data was collected electronically using CSPro on tablets.
