Comparative Prevalence of Menstrual Disorders in Africa Versus Global Trends: A Systematic Review Protocol

Project Description This project aims to conduct a systematic review comparing the prevalence of menstrual disorders in African populations to global trends. The study will synthesize available epidemiological data to identify geographic disparities, highlight potential contributing factors, and inform health policy and research priorities. Key objectives include: • To estimate the pooled prevalence of common menstrual disorders (e.g., dysmenorrhea, menorrhagia, amenorrhea, premenstrual syndrome) in African countries. • To compare these prevalence rates with global data from other regions. • To assess methodological quality and heterogeneity among studies. • To identify gaps in regional data and recommend areas for future research. The findings will provide a comprehensive, evidence-based overview that can support healthcare planning, awareness, and targeted interventions in menstrual health across different populations.
