The study explores the phenomenon of compounding in Màda personal names, examining the
structural and semantic properties of these compounds. A descriptive method was used to
analyse personal names. The study established that personal names in Màda have compound
stems, which are formed by the fusion of different stems. The study discovered that the formation
of such names in Màda consists of the compound structure: noun + noun, noun + verb, and noun
+adjective. The research will contribute to the ongoing research on personal names of Màda, it
will also contribute to researchers on indigenous Nigerian languages in general,
anthropological investigation as well as onomastic studies in particular.
