CONFER First policy brief

This policy brief is the first of a series produced in collaboration with Down2Earth and Focus Africa, exploring the sustainability of climate services in eastern and southern Africa. In this edition, we look at how the integration of local and traditional knowledge (LTK) with scientific forecast can improve climate information and, subsequentially, the resilience of agropastoral communities. The paper builds on scientific literature, data from WP1, conclusions from other development projects in the region, and a field trip by two CONFER staff based at ICPAC. It offers recommendations to producers of climate services, researchers, policy makers, and donors, and has been shared accordingly.
