The purpose of this scoping review is to map evidence on the influence of front-of-pack warning labels (FOPWLs) on consumers' purchase intentions and food product choices in emerging economies, with a view to informing policy decisions in other emerging economies, such as South Africa, considering implementing these labels. The expected outcome is mapped evidence on whether consumers change their food product choice/purchase (or consumption) intention in response to FOWPLs during shopping or exposure to this information, as well as other possible interacting/competing cues or considerations during such decisions. These findings will inform policy recommendations regarding FOPWLs in other emerging-economy contexts.
