CORRUPTION AND HUMAN CAPITAL: NIGERIA PERSPECTIVE (1992-2024)

This study investigated the impact of human capital development on the economic growth process between 1992 and 2024, as measured by federal government expenditure on health, education, gross fixed capital formation, primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions enrollment and other social and community services. Secondary data gathered from CBN publications served as source of data for the study. The Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) Bounds Testing Method for Co-integration was used in the study. The estimated long-run relationship demonstrated the beneficial impact of human capital development on Nigeria's economic growth. However, in comparison to the contributions of physical capital formation, the influence is minimal. It was discovered that there was positive significant impact of expenditure on health, education, gross fixed capital formation, primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions enrollment on economic growth in Nigeria. Based on the findings of the study, it was recommended among others, that the government of Nigeria should actively promote the development of labour intensive businesses, reorganize the educational system, and implement sound governance in order to achieve sustained economic growth
