48 Butter traders were interviewed in Addis Ababa, North Shewa , West Shewa and suburban zones in January and February 2018. 2 butter traders were interviewed in Addis Ababa, 19 in North Shewa, 19 in West Shewa and 8 were interviewed in Sub-urban zones. The survey collected information on characteristics of trader, details of butter procurement and sales, butter prices, transportation, assets and labor use. Policy makers, research, and other stakeholders can use this data to analyses dairy value chain in Ethiopia and changes happening in livestock and dairy practices in Ethiopia. This dataset was collected through research of the project “Improving the evidence and policies for better performing livestock systems in Ethiopia” lead by the International Food Policy Research Institution as part of the Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Livestock Systems. This data concerns human subjects. IRB approval was obtained using the form written in Afan Oromo language.
