This dataset supports the manuscript "Disaggregating Cooking Transitions: Urban and Rural Energy Demand and Emissions Pathways in Ghana," submitted to Renewable and Sustainable Energy Transitions (Elsevier). The study uses the Model for Analysis of Energy Demand (MAED) to project residential cooking energy demand, PM2.5 emissions, and CO2 emissions disaggregated by urban and rural households in Ghana from 2023 to 2050 under three policy scenarios: Stated Policies (STEPS), Sustainable Development (SDS), and Low-Carbon Emissions (LCE).
The archive contains all model configuration files, derived input parameters, analytical outputs, and figure-generation code needed to reproduce the study's results. MAED configuration files cover all three scenarios, both household types, and the upper and lower sensitivity bounds. Output files provide full annual series (2023–2050) for final energy demand (PJ), PM2.5 emissions (kt), and CO2 emissions (Mt CO2), each with central estimates and sensitivity bounds. The base-year construction workbook documents how Ghana's National Energy Balance and the 2021 Population and Housing Census, Volume 3K were used to calibrate the model's 2023 starting point. The emission factor derivation workbook shows the step-by-step calculation of the urban and rural weighted PM2.5 and CO2 emission factors applied in the CLEAR methodology.
The dataset is structured to allow researchers in comparable biomass-dependent economies to retrieve, repeat, and reconstruct each step of the analysis consistent with U4RIA transparency principles
