I have the honour to serve at the National Public Health Laboratory, where I regularly monitor antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in bacteria. The 2025 Vivli AMR Surveillance Challenge presents a valuable opportunity for my team and me to reflect on, then propose or potentially develop reliable and innovative strategies, techniques to address the growing threat of AMR. Since late 2023, I have been actively involved in national (Gabon) AMR surveillance efforts, including the collection and analysis of AMR-related data using the WHONET software. I also contributed to the drafting of the 2024 national AMR report, in which we provided key insights and proposed strategic recommendations aimed at reducing the proportion of Watch-group antibiotics (WHO AWaRe classification) consumed, and ultimately lowering the burden of AMR related to those important antibiotics. I am particularly excited about participating in this challenge because the databases that will made available, comprehensive in my view, will offer a broad perspective on the AMR phenomenon and its links to research, innovation, and technological development. I am confident that exploring these datasets will inspire a rigorous and meaningful contribution
