Dataset for Institutions and Climate Risk Adaptation among Smallholder Livestock Farmers in North Wollo Zone, Ethiopia

This repository contains the de-identified qualitative data supporting the manuscript "Institutions and Climate Risk Adaptation among Smallholder Livestock Farmers in North Wollo Zone, Ethiopia." The study explored how public, private, and civil society institutions contribute to strengthening the adaptive capacity of smallholder livestock farmers facing recurrent climate risks, including drought, frost, and flooding. The dataset comprises anonymized data collected through three Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) involving 32 smallholder livestock farmers and 33 Key Informant Interviews (KIIs) with representatives of public institutions, private organizations, and civil society organizations in North Wollo Zone, Amhara Region, Ethiopia. The data were collected between November and December 2019 using semi-structured discussion and interview guides. The repository includes de-identified interview and discussion data, the household discussion guide, the key informant interview guide, a codebook describing the data files, and a README file explaining the repository contents. All personal identifiers have been removed to protect participant confidentiality. These data underpin the thematic analyses reported in the manuscript, including the identification of institutional roles, adaptation interventions, coordination challenges, and opportunities for strengthening institutional support for climate risk adaptation among smallholder livestock farmers. The repository is intended to facilitate transparency, reproducibility, and future research on institutional dimensions of climate change adaptation
