Environmental pollution, global warming and the depletion of the ozone layer among others caused by the use of non renewable resources like fossil fuels, raise the importance of switching to cleaner and renewable resources. Among these, Wind is a clean and sustainable resource whose implementation is progressing worldwide, supplying millions of households. Nevertheless, it is intermittent and stochastic such that before extracting this resource, a preliminary study is done to evaluate its potential in an area. Based on this study, one can conclude whether energy can be produced for large scale or small scale electricity supply. During such studies, relevant information is collected and evaluated, these consists of: -The country in which the study took place, the number of sites considered during the study. -The data source, the instrument used, the frequency at which the data is collected and the period of time during which it was collected. -The height at which the measurements are taken, providing a concluding remark on the potential, and necessary for wind speed extrapolations. -The knowledge of the wind direction, contained in the wind rose. The present work is for the case study in Algeria.
