Determining Acceptability, Feasibility, and Adoption rates associated with Mobile Health interventions for hypertension management among adults in Africa - A Systematic Review

Africa is disproportionately affected compared to other LMICs with the World Health Organization estimating the highest prevalence of hypertension (27%) in the region compared to prevalence rates of 18% in the Americas. Despite cost‐effective lifestyle and medical interventions that could control hypertension and prevent death and disability, the African region still bears a very high disease prevalence, with poor rates of detection, treatment, and control. With the advent of technology, mobile health (mHealth) intervention has shown promising results in managing chronic diseases. Especially in patients diagnosed with hypertension, mobile health intervention has been proven to significantly improve both the quality of care and clinical outcomes. However, further research is required to thoroughly examine the implementation outcomes of mHealth in African countries. This systematic review aims to determine the acceptability, feasibility, and adoption rates of mobile health intervention among adults diagnosed with Hypertension across African countries.
