People with disabilities (PWDs) are disproportionately poorer than persons without disabilities. Despite the common agreement on the link between poverty and disability, robust quantitative empirical evidence for this link is still lacking, especially in low-income settings such as Ethiopia. In Ethiopia, despite the relatively large literature on poverty and an expanding body of research on the welfare impacts of climate change, there is limited empirical research on the relationship between disability, climate change, and extreme poverty. In this study, the team tries to fill this knowledge gap using panel data from two recent rounds of the Ethiopian Socioeconomic Survey, carried out by the Ethiopian Statistical Services and the World Bank. We apply correlated random effects models, which control for time-invariant household unobservables.
