33rd European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition; 1847-1850 Smart-grid and smart micro-grids technologies can significantly enhance the integration of renewable energies and alleviate the effects of their intermittence. This mostly due to integration of modern communication technologies allowing an intelligent and flexible control of power flow in the grid. One of the pillars of smart grids/micro-grids is the smart meter. The standard communication between smart meters and the monitoring system is the Device Language Message Specification (DLMS) protocol. In this work, we have developed an application based on Gurux DLMS library to communicate with a smart meter and read the various measured parameters as function of time: active power, reactive power, power factor, apparent power, current and voltage.
This application was developed in order to monitor the energy consumption in a micro-grid installed in the TAHALA village in TAFRAOUT region of Morocco. The Graphical user interface of the application as well as the evolution of the active power obtained from a virtual meter are shown below. The application will be subsequently tested on DLMS smart meter.
