This dataset contains remapped driving data for a rectangular domain covering Kenya for 2000-2025 at a daily timestep. It is intended that these files will facilitate a run of the land surface model JULES
jules.jchmr.org , but they may be used for any LSM that allows NetCDF input files.
The source data are from the ISIMIP project, specifically ISIMIP3b bias-adjusted climate input data (Inter-Sectoral Impact Model Intercomparison Project phase 3b (ISIMIP3b); info@isimip.org
isimip.org ) (Gosling et al. 2025). For details of bias correction applied in ISIMIP datasets, please see
isimip.org .
ISIMIP data are available globally, but only at 0.5°x0.5°C global grid resolution (approx. 50 km resolution at the Equator), when most land surface modelling simulations require higher resolution. Therefore, using a bespoke (R) script written by Dr Toby Marthews, these data were regridded to 1 km resolution across the specified domain. In the interests of parsimony, no downscaling of these data was undertaken: this was a direct regridding process (a 'conservative remapping').
Because of file size limitations, carrying out this regridding step is often impossible at research institutions, therefore we provide these model-ready files in order to make these driving data more useful to a wider community.
