Educational Policy and E-Examination Assessment in Administrative Convenience: National Open University of Nigeria Experiences

The study investigated E-Examination Assessment Educational Policy and Administrative Convenience through the experiences of National Open University of Nigeria. A descriptive survey and documentary research design was used in this study. The target population was 390,000 students, along with academic and administrative personnel of National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN). A sample size of 400 from the total population, using the Taro Yamane sample size determination technique, was taken. Inferential statistics multiple regression analysis was used to test the hypotheses at 5% level of significance. The results obtained from hypothesis one, two, and three indicated that (p = 0.012, 0.035, and 0.022 respectively; all < 0.05) there is a positive and statistically significant relationship between e-examination policies and administrative convenience. Specifically, efforts to reduce malpractice by policies related to e-examination had a significant positive effect (B = 0.327; p = 0.012), showing evidence of improved administrative efficiency. Similarly, e-examination policies were found to positively affect the speedy processing of results (B = 0.301; p = 0.035), and satisfaction of the stakeholders (B = 0.288; p = 0.022), thus easing the operation. The study concluded that e-examination policies play an important role in bringing about administrative convenience by minimizing malpractice, fast processing of results, and improving the satisfaction of stakeholders. The major recommendations include sustaining and strengthening anti-malpractice measures in order to increase credibility and minimize administrative burden.
