This study examined the effect of climate-conflict displacement on food security among
Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State,
Nigeria. The area has experienced recurrent farmer-herder conflicts and climate-related
shocks such as flooding and drought, which have contributed to large-scale displacement
and disruption of livelihood activities. The study specifically assessed the socio-economic
characteristics of the displaced population, identified the major drivers of displacement,
evaluated the three dimensions offood security availability, accessibility, utilization, and
analysed the relationship between displacement andfood security outcomes among IDPs
in the study area. A descriptive survey research design was adopted. Primary data were
collected using structured questionnaires administered to IDPs supported by field
observations. A multistage sampling technique was used to select respondents across
designated camps and host communities within Jibia LGA. Data were analysed using
descriptive statistics, food security indicators, and correlation analysis to establish the
relationship between displacement variables and food security status. Findings revealed
that climate-relatedfactors and violent conflict jointly contributed to displacement in the
study area, leading to the loss offarmland, livelihood disruption, and reduced household
income. The study established that food availability and accessibility were significantly
constrained, while food utilization was compromised by limited resources, overcrowded
living conditions, and inadequate humanitarian support. The results further showed a
significant relationship between displacement intensity and the level offood insecurity
among IDPs. The study concludes that climate-conflict displacement has a profound
negative effect on food security among IDPs in Guma LGA. It recommends strengthening
local early-warning systems, improving livelihood restoration programmes, enhancing
food assistance mechanisms, and promoting community-based disaster risk reduction
strategies to build resilience among displacedpopulations.
