Data collected between May and November 2025 for a PhD study at Unicaf University in Malawi titled "effective application of STEM instructional techniques in teaching chemistry in Uganda. The study used seven lesson plan reviews and eleven semi-structured interviews to obtain qualitative data. The findings resulted into construction of a Chemistry Learning Theory (CLT), Competence and Motivation-Focused lesson plan (CMF-LP) template, and a transformative motivating processes (TMP) model (Atukwase, 2026, expected). These are tools which chemistry teachers can use to effectively apply STEM instructional techniques in teaching chemistry. It was an exploratory sequential mixed methods study. Quantitative data from closed-ended questionnaire survey (Atukwase, 2026, expected) are to be deposited separately.
