Emotion questionnaire p002 just came to tell me his life story 09/March/2011. He only came back in 2002. He never had the means so that he felt comfortable to come back (my interpretation). The family had lost contact with him during that time. So he only started to speak Nalu again about ten years back. It is also interesting that he lied to me when I first asked him. He said that he was born in May 1972. I was surprised back then and never really believed that, but decided not to confront him on this. It should be noted that consonant with the dominance of Soso in Koukouba these days he does not get a chance to speak much Nalu in Koukouba. As he claims only with the elders and some friends of old. But even then, I believe, that the opportunities where he actually uses Nalu are very limited and domain specific. Towards the end of the first research period he once commented to me that he was so happy to be able to work and speak Nalu so much while working for me, because it brought back his language to him, i.e I think he meant that the exercise did him good in terms regaining his former language competence. See narratives_003 for a telling of his time as a itinierant trader.
