This dataset contains 1) an excel file containing occurrence points
(updated as of January 2025) for all bat species in Madagascar extracted
from published papers and online data repositories (iNaturalist, GBIF),
and 2) raster data for the 19 BioClim variables at the current time
(averaged for seven climate models), and for the year 2080 at a
"business-as-usual" climate trajectory. Occurrence data is
ordered by taxonomic family, and is presented at the same resolution as
the original data source (i.e., all occurrence points are available at the
exact same resolution in the original publications/repositories from which
they were obtained). Raster data is clipped to cover the geographic area

Description of the data and file structure All occurrence point data was
obtained from either the published literature, or online data repositories
(GBIF, iNaturalist). X and Y coordinates were saved in the same resolution
as the original data source. Climate data was downloaded from WorldClim.

**Description:** A database of occurrence points for bat species present
in Madagascar. ##### Variables * Taxonomic family = details on the
taxonomic family of the corresponding species. * Scientific name = details
of the scientific name of the corresponding species. * Common name
= details of the common name of the corresponding species. * Description =
the year that the species was originally described. * IUCN = the species
current IUCN Red List classification status. * Endemic = information on
whether the species is endemic to Madagascar or not. * Latitude = the Y
coordinate of the occurrence point (at the same resolution as the original
data source). * Longitude = the X coordinate of the occurrence point (at
the same resolution as the original data source). * Ref = the reference

containing data for 19 bioclimatic variables for Madagascar for the
current time period. Resolution = 1km x 1km. Each individual bioclimatic
variable is saved as a separate band in the raster layer (19 bands total).

Quarter (mm) #### File: 2080_BAU.zip **Description:** A zip folder
containing seven raster layers (from seven different future climate
models) with data for 19 biolcimatic variables for Madagascar for the year
2080 using a "business-as-usual" RCP 8.5 trajectory. Resolution
= 1km x 1km. Each individual bioclimatic variable is saved as a separate
band in the raster layer (19 bands total for each of the seven raster
layers). Each raster layer contains 70 bands in total, with bands 37-55
corresponding to the bioclimatic variables 1-19. Bands 1-12 are monthly
minimum temperatures, bands 13-24 are monthly maximum temperatures, bands
25-36 are mean monthly precipitation, bands 56-67 are monthly potential
evapotranspiration, band 68 represents annual potential
evapotranspiration, band 69 represents annual climate water deficit, and
band 70 represents number of dry months. The 19 bioclimatic variables are
the same as described for the Current_copy.tif. The naming convention for
the seven raster layers is "modelname_RCPpathway_year.tif". All
temperature values are in degrees Celsius, while all precipitation values
