Project description
ERTALAS – Environmental Resilience of Terraced Agroforestry Landscape in the Anti-Atlas investigates the long-term environmental resilience of traditional terraced agroforestry systems in the Aït Baha area, Anti-Atlas, Morocco. The project combines geoarchaeology, applied geomorphology, GIS, remote sensing and computational modelling to assess how these rural landscapes contributed to soil conservation, hydrological regulation, organic carbon storage and climate adaptation. It focuses on the origin, development, transformation and abandonment of terraced agroforestry systems, with the broader aim of evaluating their role as cultural landscapes and nature-based solutions for environmental sustainability in arid regions.

This archive contains the code and input spatial data required to reproduce the geospatial covariate derivation and point-pattern analysis of igudar sites in the Anti-Atlas, Morocco. The workflow combines Python, GRASS GIS, R, SAGA GIS and spatstat to model the relationship between site distribution and environmental variables.
