This scoping review will investigate the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in rehabilitation across Sub-Saharan Africa by examining qualitative studies. Research shows a critical need for innovative healthcare solutions to enhance outcomes and accessibility in a region facing significant challenges like infrastructure deficiencies and training shortfalls. The objective is to assess the anticipated impact of AI technologies, such as assistive technologies, virtual reality, and data analytics, on rehabilitation outcomes. This will include exploring how these technologies can support patient care, foster independence, and facilitate remote monitoring. This review uses a comprehensive search of online databases to include qualitative studies highlighting the potential and challenges of applying AI in Sub-Saharan Africa's rehabilitation services. Hypothetically, the results will suggest that AI could improve rehabilitation outcomes, though contingent upon addressing barriers like limited infrastructure and cultural nuances. Conclusively, the review will argue that the successful integration of AI into rehabilitation practices can significantly enhance patient outcomes, widen access to services, and promote inclusive healthcare, with implications for occupational therapists and healthcare professionals in Sub-Saharan Africa to integrate AI into their clinical practice, policy making, and professional development initiatives effectively.
