ABSTRACTEl Bayadh region, located in southwestern Algeria, is characterized by a semi-aridclimate with low and irregular rainfall, leading to a strong reliance on groundwater to meetincreasing water demands. Economic and demographic growths have intensified pressure onwater resources, resulting in a noticeable deficit. This study aims to assess the current state ofwater resources in the region, forecast future needs, and anticipate challenges in sustainablewater management. Geographic Information Systems (GIS) were used to build thematic andspatial databases, enabling the evaluation of surface and groundwater resources. Additionally,the hydrochemical characteristics of major aquifers, such as the Albian, Infra-Cretaceous,Bajo-Bathonian, and Continental Intercalary systems, were analyzed using Piper diagrams.The results highlight the urgent need for integrated water resource management strategies,combining conservation efforts and the mobilization of non-conventional resources to ensurewater security in El Bayadh
