In this paper I use data from Wolof, among other languages, to describe and analyze a word order constraint on extraposition—a form of rightward displacement.Specifically, I show that extraposition of a constituent from a nominal phrase canonly apply when that constituent’s non-displaced position is at the right edge ofthe nominal phrase. Since the analysis of extraposition is a point of disagreement incurrent syntactic theory, I discuss how this constraint can be derived under severaldifferent approaches to extraposition.
