The film gives a general survey of the culture of the Saharan Kanuri inhabiting the oasis of Fachi. It is conceived as an approach to a type of culture determined by the extreme ecological conditions of the Sahara. Presenting a typical Kanuri family, the film shows chiefly the economic system, the trading with caravans of nomadic Tuareg as well as scenes from the social and religious life of the inhabitans of Fachi.
