A higher Adoption of SWC activity has positive effect on agricultural productivity and improves the income of farmers. However, to the best of the researcher’s knowledge, so far, the extents to which farmers adoption of SWC activities have not been studied in Dire Dawa rural kebeles. Hence, the objective of this study was to identify the determinants of farmers’ Adoption of SWC activities in Dire Dawa rural kebeles, Ethiopia. The research includes both primary and secondary data. A two-stage sampling technique was used to collect data respondent farmers. The data were analyzed by using both descriptive statistics and econometric models. Regarding communities engagement and commitment to continue in SWC works, the survey result indicated that majority of sample households have no plan and commitment to Adopt and continue with SWC works unless there is external influence like the influence of development agents, local administrators, other organizations effort and incentives in kind or cash provided in exchange of the labor days invested for conservation work. A binary logistic regression model was used to estimate the effect of hypothesized explanatory variables on farmers Adoption of SWC activities. From the result of the study, educational level, social position, the effectiveness of SWC technologies, frequency of contact of extension agent and access to credit have a significant effect on farmer’s adoption of SWC activities. The study recommends that, a well-coordinated and organized SWC system to be internalized by all actors through a well-established national extension approach is required to fill the current SWC management gaps. Moreover, the farmers’ Adoption of SWC activities should be enhanced by proper advisory services and providing credit services.
