In order to address the emerging societal challenges within the agri-food sector in the context of big data, a shift in mindsets and research culture is required to seize the opportunity of Open Science and FAIR Open data. The integration of open research and experimental data with farmers’ local knowledge, and their exploitation by data infrastructures will allow the significant advancement of related research in terms of tools, content, practices and proofs of concept. It can thereby increase creativity and innovation throughout the entire public and private R&D chain in the agri-food area.  The opening of FAIR data should be aligned at designing and implementing of technologies that are meant to use such data for the purposes of increasing food security and enable farmers practice SMART agriculture. In Low development countries like Uganda, such data like the FAIR SOIL DATA, FAIR CLIMATE AND WEATHER DATA is not put into use and this is due to the lack of technologies and knowledge that can be used to extract and spread such data to reach our local potential farmers. FAIR DATA guarantees food security which exists when all people at all times have physical and economic access to sufficient, safe and nutritious food to meet their dietary needs and food preferences for a healthy and active life. The SMART FAIR Agriculture Data objective will be in position to transform agricultural practices to enhance productivity, and increased commercialization and industrialization through two focus areas, i). Providing information for enhancing agricultural productivity and ii). Establishing entire value-chain foundation for ICT-based agricultural commercialization and industrialization. Meanwhile, the today’s technology advancement in Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, IoT (Internet of Things) are becoming the major drivers for providing the Digital IT solution almost in all the fields and business sectors hence, it is proposed to make use of Digital solution aided with Artificial intelligence to uplift the habitat of the trampled farmer community while providing yet a new opportunity for business and entrepreneurs by enabling smart farm as a service for better food production.
