This firm-level panel dataset contains annual financial and operational observations for 60 medium-sized and large mining companies operating in South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mali, and Madagascar over the period 2013–2022. The dataset comprises up to 600 firm-year observations and examines financial structure, financial capacity, profitability, operational efficiency, profit growth, and firm-specific characteristics. Core variables include leverage, liquidity, return on assets, asset turnover, profit growth, firm size, firm age, capital intensity, and commodity-price conditions. Lagged variables are included to support dynamic specifications and robustness analysis. The dataset was compiled from company-level financial and corporate disclosures and supplemented, where applicable, by established financial and commodity-market databases. Firm-level longitudinal dataset covering 60 mining companies across six Sub-Saharan African countries for 2013–2022. The dataset is structured as a panel with the firm-year as the unit of analysis. Financial and operational variables were compiled and harmonised across companies and reporting years to facilitate comparative econometric analysis.
