FOUR HISTORICAL STAGES IN THE FORMATION OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE TERMINOLOGY IN UZBEK AND THEIR LEXICAL LEGACY

The article describes the formation of artificial intelligence (AI) terminology in Uzbek as four historical stages: the Soviet period (1920–1991), the independence period (1991–2000), the digitalisation period (2000–2017), and the AI period (from 2017 onward). The lexical legacy of each stage is identified using the Uzbek segment of a corpus comprising 475,000 words. The study demonstrates that 38.4 per cent of contemporary Uzbek AI terminology rests on the technical lexical foundation formed during the Soviet period.
