Addiction among women is often rooted in a complex intersection of trauma, emotional neglect, and identity fragmentation. Yet, within the process of recovery lies an untapped potential for leadership formation and social transformation. This chapter explores how addiction recovery shapes women’s transformational leadership capacities, particularly within faith-informed and community-based contexts. Using a practice-based reflective approach, the chapter draws on lived experiences and field insights from faith-based rehabilitation programs in Nigeria that support women in recovery. It argues that recovery is not merely an act of liberation from substance or behavioral dependencies, but a spiritual and psychological process that reconstructs identity, moral agency, and purpose. Anchored in transformational leadership theory and faith-based models of identity reconstruction, this study examines how resilience, empathy, and authenticity emerge as leadership virtues from lived brokenness. The chapter highlights the role of healing communities in reorienting women’s self-concept from victimhood to vision-bearing leadership, thereby proposing recovery as a fertile ground for leadership development. Findings suggest that women who have experienced healing from addiction often display exceptional relational intelligence, compassion, and authenticity-qualities increasingly valued in transformational leadership. The study concludes with recommendations for leadership educators, faith-based organizations, and policy-makers to integrate healing and spiritual renewal into women’s leadership development frameworks.
