“From Campus to Virtuality”: Evaluating Metaverse Job Fair student’s acceptance using the TAM Model

This study explores the potential of the metaverse as a pioneering platform for job fairs in Tunisia, North Africa, by examining university students’ expectations and acceptance of such virtual events. Addressing a critical gap in event management research within emerging markets, the study applies the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) to assess the factors influencing adoption. Data was collected from 188 students who attended a metaverse-based job fair and analyzed using PLS-SEM. Results reveal that perceived usefulness, ease of use, and enjoyment significantly influence students’ attitudes and behavioral intentions. Participants expressed a positive outlook toward virtual job fairs, valuing their accessibility and innovative format. This research offers one of the first empirical insights into the application of immersive technologies for career-related events in North Africa, providing implications for event organizers, educators, and policymakers. It contributes to the growing discourse on digitalization and its transformative potential in the event management landscape of developing regions.
