This chapter describes the importance of today’s Black homeschool movement concerning historical perspectives and research on Black education. Connections between the narratives of Black home educators, African American heritage, and research on Black families’ experiences in public and private schools are discussed. The chapter concludes with similarities between the homeschool practices of Black home educators and education in modern Ghana, West Africa.
