# ๐Ÿ“˜ Assistive Technology & Inclusive Education in Nigerian Secondary Schools > **Academic Research | Inclusive Education | Education Policy | Nigeria** --- ## ๐Ÿ” Overview This repository contains the full research project submitted in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the award of **Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) in Guidance and Counselling** at Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado-Ekiti, in affiliation with Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo. The study investigates the **role of assistive technology (AT) in supporting the learning and participation of students with physical challenges** in selected secondary schools across Oyo State, Nigeria. --- ## ๐Ÿ“‹ Abstract This study examined how assistive technology supports academic performance, classroom participation, and social inclusion for physically challenged secondary school students in Oyo State, Nigeria. **Sample:** 150 respondents โ€” 90 teachers + 60 physically challenged students (stratified random sampling) **Key Findings:** - **>70%** of respondents reported unavailability of AT across all device categories - **62โ€“76%** agreed that AT enhances academic performance when available - **74โ€“79%** affirmed AT's positive impact on classroom participation and social inclusion - Chi-square tests found **no statistically significant** relationship between AT availability and outcomes โ€” attributed to near-universal device absence, not AT ineffectiveness - **Private and urban schools** had significantly better access than public and rural counterparts **Conclusion:** AT holds recognized transformative potential, but its systemic unavailability in Nigerian schools โ€” rooted in inadequate funding, poor infrastructure, and limited teacher training โ€” prevents that potential from being realised. --- ## ๐Ÿงช Methodology | Component | Detail | |---|---| | **Design** | Descriptive Survey | | **Study Area** | Oyo State, Nigeria | | **Sample Size** | 150 respondents (90 teachers, 60 students) | | **Sampling T โ€ฆ
