# Smart Registry Kenya
A blockchain-based sovereign carbon registry with satellite verification and automated community benefit distribution.
## Context
In January 2025, Kenya's Environment and Land Court ruled that the Biliqo Bulesa Conservancy - part of the world's largest soil carbon sequestration project (NKRCP, 1.9M hectares) - was established unconstitutionally, without verifiable community consent. Credits had been sold to Netflix, Meta, and British Airways.
Smart Registry Kenya is a prototype that addresses the four systemic failures identified by the court.
